Analysis of the Vibrational Stress Relief for Reducing the

Mar 31, 2016 · This research examines the use of vibratory methods to reduce residual stresses in structures. The main objective of this work is to seek a better knowing of the mechanism of the reduction of residual stresses of materials undergoing cyclic loading. Experiments have demonstrated that residual stresses can be largely relieved through vibratory stress relief (VSR) treatment. Analysis on Technology of High-Frequency Vibratory Stress In the paper, a new kind of Vibratory Stress Relief (VSR), which is called high-frequency VSR, is put forward. Firstly, the traditional VSR or low-frequency VSR is introduced, including its method and mechanism. Then a new kind of VSR experimental equipment, which exciting frequency is more than 1kHz, is suggested. Final Report Vibratory Residual Stress Relief and The results show that the frequency producing the greatest stress relief occurs at the resonant peak (natural frequency). The reduction of residual stress after resonant vibratory treatment can attain 97 percent. Sub-resonant VSR treatments get less or no residual stress relief

The reductions in residual stress in the X direction for the same strains but for 1 cycle were 36 and 17.5%, respectively. These reduction values form two straight lines Fig. 5.. Following the theoretical section the predicted average reduction in residual stress in the X direction was 36% for the strain of 1550 and 19% for the strain of 1350 in the case of a perfect plastic curve. Heat treatment is one of the traditional methods to relieve the residual stresses. But it is often limited by the manufacturing condition and the size of the structures. Stress Relief - an overview ScienceDirect TopicsHossain M.M.A. Rashed, in Fundamentals of Aluminium Metallurgy, 2018. 13.8.3 Vibratory Stress Relief Technique. Vibratory stress relief techniques can be used in aluminium alloys for stress relief after heat treatment. In this method, stress is relaxed by cyclic loading. Large strain amplitudes can relax large stresses [89].This method may be an alternative choice because of lower operating Study of vibratory stress relief effect of quartz flexible process is adopted, residual stress will still be introduced, as time goes on and with the influence of temperature variation and vibration, residual stress will be gradually releasing, and result in structure deformation. Thermal stress relief (TSR) has been proved to be an effective method to relieve residual stress,

The Influence of Vibratory Treatment on the Fatigue Life of Welds:A Comparison with Thermal Stress Relief A. S. M. Y. Munsi Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Strathclyde, 70 Montrose Street, Glasgow, G1 1XJ The Influence of Vibratory Treatment on the Fatigue Life Vibration stress relief (VSR) is an effective and economic method for reducing residual stress in various welding components. Compared with other methods, it costs much less time and energy. VIBRATORY STRESS RELIEF OF - Metronicmetalmethod is thermal stress relief. Specifying temperature, time and heat- ing and cooling rates are all that is usually necessary to guarantee reduction of residual stresses to reliably low levels throughout a fabrication. Thermal stress relief, however, can have certain adverse effects Vibratory Stress Relief in Manufacturing the Rails of a To reduce the welding induced residual stress in the rails of a magnetic levitation (maglev) transport system, the procedure of vibratory stress relief (VSR) is applied and discussed in this paper.

Vibratory Stress ReliefAn Investigation of the Underlying

The use of vibration to reduce residual stress levels in fabrications is potentially an attractive alternative to thermal annealing. The application of the process has hitherto been limited by the lack of coherent theory of operation. In this study, residual stresses were introduced into a low-alloy steel EN3b by rolling. It was shown that prolonged low-amplitude vibration at 100 Hz induced a (PDF) Influence of vibrations on residual stresses Vibration stress relief (VSR) is an effective and economic method for reducing residual stress in various welding components.
